چکیده

In another paper [1914] an account will be found of a new method for the estimation of aspartic and glutaminic acids in the hydrolytic products of proteins, depending upon the insolubility of their calcium salts in alcohol. In studying the influence of lime upon glutaminic acid in aqueous solution at higher temperatures it was found that the amino-nitrogen content had been considerably reduced. The experiments described below were carried out in order to investigate this matter. The study of the behaviour of the new product when treated in aqueous solution with lime and alcohol was also an object of the experiments. The glutaminic acid hydrochloride used in this and the other experiments described in this paper was a recrystallised specimen obtained from a caseinogen hydrolysis. Its purity is shown by the following analysis:
